Title: Rare Antique Handwritten Rulebook – Institut Trinks‑Meyer, Hausordnung (Boarding School, c.1880–1900)

A remarkable, entirely hand‑written manuscript rulebook titled Institut Trinks‑Meyer – Hausordnung (“House Rules”), dating from the late Victorian or Edwardian era (approx. 1880–1900). This small pocket‑size volume is bound in rich red pebbled cloth with embossed borders and bright gilt titles to the front.

Written entirely in English in a fine, consistent period hand, it sets out the full code of conduct for pupils at this private institute – likely a girls’ boarding school or finishing academy. You’ll find detailed regulations covering daily routine, polite behaviour, permitted reading, meal provisions, dress and jewellery, plus a formal system of rewards (“Good Marks” for diligent work) and penalties/fines for misconduct. Fines raised were directed to charity, adding a further layer of social history interest.

The book remains in good antique condition: binding is sound with only minor rubbing to corners and edges; pages are clean, ink remains bright, and the text is fully legible throughout. A fascinating, rare survival – a wonderful primary source for historians and collectors of social and educational history.
